Elections for the Executive Board will be held on game night of May 27th. If you would like to run for any of the open Executive Board positions, a notice of Intent to Run must be submitted to the Secretary (secretary@svsl.org) by Friday May 21st. This notice of Intent to Run should also contain a bio and any other information that the you would like to express to the league voters on the ballot.
This is a chance to be the driving force behind change for anyone with ideas on what direction SVSL should go to grow and be prosperous. This is a commitment to the league and to every member that plays softball with SVSL and the person running for a position on the Executive Board should have the conviction and fortitude to see this commitment through to the end of their term.
All elected members will be trained by the existing Board Member during a transition period lasting no longer than the first day of the Summer Season.

The position that need to be filled are the following:
Commissioner (Mid-Term for 1 year)
- The Commissioner shall manage the affairs and activities of SVSL and shall have such powers and duties as usually appertain to the office and as may be directed by the Board of Directors. Specifically, the Commissioner shall:
- Be the presiding officer at all meetings of the Board of Directors of SVSL;
- Prepare an agenda for meetings of the Board of Directors with the assistance of other officers, members, and committee chairs;
- Have the power to interpret these Bylaws, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors; and
- Facilitate the coordination and consistency of the activities of standing and ad hoc Committees, and serve as an ex officio member of all standing or ad hoc committees.
Vice Commissioner (2 year term)
- The Vice Commissioner shall assist the Commissioner in managing the affairs and activities of the Board of Directors and shall have such power and duties as usually appertain to the office and as may be directed by the Commissioner. (Duties include either overseeing or being a member of the Recruitment Committee and Ratings Committee. Also in charge of game scheduling for regular season games and playoffs.)
Secretary (2 year term)
- The Secretary shall be the custodian of all non-financial records of SVSL, its officers, and established committees. The Secretary shall keep and/or be given timely records of all proceedings, correspondence, rules, policies, or other documents pertaining to SVSL activities. Specifically, the Secretary shall:
- Assist the Commissioner in making arrangements for all meetings of the Board of Directors, the annual meeting of the general members, and any special meeting, and notify all prospective participants of their time and place.
- Keep complete and accurate minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and provide copies of the minutes to each member of the Board;
- Conduct appropriate correspondence with other organizations or individuals and prepare and timely submit all necessary non-financial applications, reports, or other documents to other organizations; and
- Perform other duties as directed by the Commissioner or the Board of Directors.
D-Division Rep (2 year term)
- The D-Division Representative shall represent the interests of the D-Division at Executive Board and Board of Directors meetings. The D-Division Representative shall:
- Meet with D-Division managers prior o each season to convey new rules and regulations to the managers, discuss other rules and policies as needed and to hear the concerns and ideas of the managers.
- Report to the Board of Directors issues, problems, and concerns specific to the D-Division.
- Have the power to review and suggest changes to the D-Division’s playing schedule prior to its release to the League’s players.
- Maintain contact with teams and their managers to remain up to date with the teams’ status form season to season, and to help the teams meet deadlines for dues, sign-up, and submission of paperwork.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Commissioner and Board of Directors. (Duties include involvement with the Ratings Committee and Recruiting Committee)
C-Division Rep (Mid-Term for 1 year)
- The C-Division Representative shall represent the interest of the C-Division at Executive Board and Board of Directors meetings. The C-Division Representative shall:
- Meet with C-Division managers prior to each season to convey new rules and regulations to the managers and to hear the concerns and ideas of the managers.
- Report to the Board of Directors issues, problems, and concerns specific to the C-Division.
- Have the power to review and suggest changes to the C-Division’s playing schedule prior to its release to the League’s players.
- Maintain contact with teams and their managers to remain up to date with the teams’ status form season to season, and to help the teams meet deadlines for dues, signup, and submission of paperwork.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Commissioner and Board of Directors (Duties include involvement with the Ratings Committee and Recruiting Committee)
